HONOLULU — Want to know where Santa is? Just ask Michelle Obama.

The first lady is answering calls from children checking in with the "Tracks Santa" program of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). With the help of NORAD's Santa Route Schedule, Mrs. Obama is telling children Santa's whereabouts as he makes his journey around the world on Christmas Eve.

The NORAD program has been helping children track Santa since 1955.

The Obamas are spending the holidays in Hawaii, the president's home state. The first family has no public events scheduled for their vacation, though locals are hoping the Obamas will make a few stops around town as they have in past years.

Orlando Magic Skidding

ORLANDO -- Amid mounting losses, a brutal stretch in the schedule and trying to get four new players adjusted on the fly, Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy felt the last thing his team needed after having played games on consecutive nights was a day off.

Apparently, there's no rest for the reeling in Orlando.

So instead of enjoying what otherwise would have been a work-free day coming off a back-to-back set, the Magic pushed through a two-hour practice session Wednesday afternoon.

The rare move to conduct a workout amid such a busy stretch is part of the Orlando's attempt to fast-track the acclimation process after acquiring Gilbert Arenas, Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu and Earl Clark in trades Saturday.

Orlando (16-12) has lost four consecutive games, including its last two since parting with Rashard Lewis, Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat, Mickael Pietrus, a first-round draft pick and cash in the first major trade of the season.

Arenas, Richardson, Turkoglu have played two games with the Magic, but had not practiced with their new teammates until Wednesday.

"It's real tough right now, but we don't have a choice," Van Gundy said. "We just have to get some things done -- trying not to kill them, but still get things done. And they've just got to suck it up a little bit. It's a tough stretch, but we've got to get it up and running. There's just no other way to do it."

Van Gundy said it was his first time as a head coach that he had to call his team in to work the day after it played games the previous two nights. The Magic lost Monday on the road against Atlanta and fell at home Tuesday against Dallas.

Van Gundy is also in the midst of another first with the Magic. The team has lost eight of its last nine games, which marks the worst stretch Orlando has had since the 2006-07 season, the year before Van Gundy arrived.

The Magic spent most of Wednesday's session working on defensive adjustments and watching film in preparation for Thursday's home game against San Antonio. Orlando plays Boston on Saturday to finish off a week in which it will have faced teams with the league's three best records in succession.

In the two games they've played without the benefit of any practice time, Arenas, Turkoglu and Richardson shot a combined 13 of 53 from the field and have struggled with defensive rotations.

"I know everyone is expecting us to come in and just save everything really quick, but we've got to get adapted," Arenas said Wednesday. "I know most of the guys wanted the day off. But the new guys needed to learn what their concepts are. It's hard to go into a game and go on the fly. Little things that killed us [Tuesday] night, we went over today. And that's what we needed. It hasn't set in yet."

Magic center Dwight Howard declined to speak with reporters after Wednesday's practice. But he said after Tuesday's loss to Dallas that it was almost unfair to expect so much this soon from the newcomers, including Turkoglu, who's just starting his second stint with the team.

"Having four new guys come in, not knowing anything offensively or defensively, is tough," Howard said Tuesday. "When the other teams score, coach couldn't get mad or anything. He just knew, like, 'Hey, they don't know.' Once the guys learn the rotations, the system & we'll be fine. Keep home alive."

Before Wednesday's practice, Richardson said his initial indoctrination into the Magic's scheme involved running sets in hotel ballrooms during shootarounds before games.

"Pretending like a basket was there, making make-believe layups," Richardson said. "I wanted the day off, but we needed this practice. We really hadn't been on the court as a practice. It was good to go out there. It was actually good to have a rim to shoot at instead of a make-believe."

Transport Delays In Heathrow Airport

After nearly a week of severe travel chaos in Britain, the transport network started to pull away from so many delays and cancellations on Wednesday. One thing working for them is that forecasters say the snow is really slowing down and there relatively won’t be any.

Heathrow Airport has been the worst affected by the weather and only operated about one-third of its services on Tuesday. However, about two-thirds of their services were operating yesterday. It will still take some time for the airport to get back to normal as they clear out their backlog.

Other airports seem to be coping with the weather better as well and should be close to operating as normal by tomorrow. It’s still best for passengers to check with their airport’s website for flight information, or contact the airline directly.

Rail services are doing better as well, with Eurostar operating about 90% of its services. There were some delays yesterday, however. National Rail said that 70% of their trains were running on time, which is an improvement, but they are still trying to get things back to normal. Despite this, Virgin Trains suffered many delays and cancellations, along with a few other train operators.

Roads are still suffering congestion and closures due to accidents. People are traveling, but it seems a few of them aren’t being smart about it and causing disruptions for everyone else on the road. If driving is essential, be sure to leave with plenty of extra time to get to the destination and remain on alert.

Travel disruptions across the rest of Europe looked to be easing yesterday as well. It seems that air and rail travel is beginning to return to normal, though it may take a couple days due to all the previous delays and cancellations.

Get Your Site Indexed By Google

Tuesday, December 21, 2010
0 comments

So you have had your website up and running for awhile now and the major search engines have yet to recognize the site? You aren’t alone. Many sites have a hard time becoming indexed. Sometimes it is due to being new or possibly it is just a matter of bad luck. Fortunately there are options in the quest to be indexed and one, if not a combination of a few, will get your website the attention it needs by being indexed by the major search engines.

First method to consider is search engine submission. Sounds easy right? All you have to do is sign up and your site is indexed. Not exactly. For most of the search engines simply filling in the requested information on the submission form is enough to get the ball rolling. This method is useful everywhere except when dealing with Google. As the most popular and largest search engine, they tend to be a little pickier. The key to becoming indexed by Google is to get link exchanges from other sites that are indexed by Google. Otherwise the powers that be see the unlinked site as of little value.

Another way to help your website get noticed is pay per click advertising. This one won’t actually help get the site indexed, but it may very well increase traffic to the site. That could increase revenue and make your site more appealing to other webmasters that may allow links to be placed. And that does help with search engine indexing.

While on the subject of links, these little blurbs on someone else’s website can be incredibly useful in getting attention from the major search engines. One way to receive links is to politely request a link exchange of the potential webmaster. Often you will discover that if space on the site allows, the other website owner will request that you place a link on your site back to them. While search engines have gotten wise to this practice, it will up your website’s exposure to the general population. The notion of registering with web directories will help gain the respectability needed to be recognized by the search engines for indexing. Some directories charge a fee for inclusion and others will accept payment to place your listing quickly or higher on the page. If finances are a major concern, there are some web directories that don’t charge for inclusion. It will help with the indexing issue; just not as quickly as the directories that charge.

It can be incredibly time consuming to build up the necessary links to get attention from the search engines. There are programs available that will help you set up a request letter and submit the requests to other websites with similar content to yours, saving you a lot of time. While there is a monetary charge associated with this type of software, it can save the webmaster hours of work and frustration.

While working to get your new, or slow moving existing website noticed by the search engines for index inclusion, remember to be patient and get those vitally necessary inbound links.

Internet Advertising Methods

People opt for internet advertising methods because practically half of the world's population knows HTML. If you have your own business, you have to decide on what internet advertising method works for you. Ask yourself what are you going to avail of: the expensive internet advertising methods or the cheap ones? Others will pipe in "expensive!" immediately, but they don't know cheap internet advertising method attracts great benefits as well.

Here's the lowdown and a comparative look on the cheap and expensive internet advertising methods:

The Expensive:
1. Pop-ups. Not only is this expensive, but also outright annoying that visitors close pop-up windows without even bothering to know what they're all about. This is an internet advertising method that you can do without.
Fly ads are derivatives of pop-ups which are also equally irking to the visitors.
2. 1. Pop-ups. Not only is this expensive, but also outright annoying that visitors close pop-up windows without even bothering to know what they're all about. This is an internet advertising method that you can do without.
Fly ads are derivatives of pop-ups which are also equally irking to the visitors.
2. Pod casts.
Broadcast is to TV as pod cast is to internet. It's one sophisticated internet advertising method that can somehow hamper your budget. But if you're thinking results, pod casting is worth the money.
3. Paying the search engines.
How does this one work? When someone types in a keyword related to your site, your URL is automatically included in the first page of the top results. Fixed payment for the search engine allows just that. Expensive, yes, but if we're talking about Google and Yahoo search engines here, then don't give it a second thought.
This is associated with another internet advertising method: the pay-per-click system.

The Cheap:
1. Blogging.
Go along the bandwagon and blog about your website. This is an internet advertising method that is popular as of the moment, so you never have to worry that this will never spur outcome. All you have to do is sign up for a blogging account, post and voila! You don't even need to pay!

2. Submit to not-so-big search engines.
This is cheap and dependable. If you submit your site to smaller search engines, you have bigger chances to get bigger results. Remember that the search engine giants can dwarf and overlook your site easily, so this internet advertising method might just be the right one for you.

3. Text links.
This is not just cheap…this is virtually free! Let someone text link your site and return the favor.

Cheap versus expensive, that's always the question that hounds on whenever we're trying to get something. In the field of internet advertising, just be wise enough to figure out what will suit your needs. Go for what you want as long as there are visible results.

Dangereous of Online Dating

By: Suzanne E Morrison

Is online dating dangerous? This is a question that many people ask and the answer may surprise you. Online dating may actually be safer then traditional dating for many reasons. There is often a strict screening process that you need to go through for some of the best dating sites and this gives you an opportunity to anonymously talk to people before you decide to indulge in more personal information.

When you start looking for dates online, rather than trying to find your perfect match in the first week, just try to relax and have a little fun. You should not take yourself too seriously and when you are genuinely having fun, others will instantly be attracted to you and want to get to know you better. You may find several people that you want to get to know better and when you are single, you can date as many people as you like.

You should be very careful and be sure not to give potential dates any sort of personal information such as your home address, telephone number or email address. You may want to list the town that you live in, but don't go into any more detail than this as your profile is available to all members.
When you have found someone that you would consider going on a date with, the same rules that apply to traditional dating also apply online. To be on the safe side, arrange your first date in a public place during the day. You certainly want to meet your date there rather than at your home. If you use some general safety precautions it can ensure that you are safe in all situations.

As with regular dating, you always need to be prepared for the occasional rejection. There are so many single people online and everyone has different preferences, so don't feel offended if you are rejected from time to time. You should move on right away and not dwell on the situation and this can help you roll with the punches and recover sooner.

Is online dating dangerous? Not when you take the right precautions and safety measures that you would normally use when going on traditional dates. You can have a great time and still be safe as long as you are choosy about the information that you share and take precautions when meeting someone for the first date.

Solve Depression in College Students

Human nature varies throughout the world. How an individual perceive and understand situation rely on diverse issues encompassing personal, social, economical or environmental. Childhood grooming demands positive, encouraging and congenial family and social atmosphere. This not only motivates and inculcates confidence but also provides ability to grasp and tackle stress and related issues intelligently.

In this competitive epoch and demanding life, stress cannot be evaded. We do not come across tough situations every day, it happens occasionally when situation turn out to be beyond our control. The situation becomes tough when major transitions are taking place in particular, when a student joins college, a shift from a nurturing family and home security to outer world.

Chemical imbalance, genetics, a history of abuse, family problems, death of loved one, any trauma in the past, pressures related with the academic performance, cut-throat competition, several adjustments in a new environment, a fear of failure in the chosen field, psycho-social, financial pressures generated due to escalating cost of education and books and to meet the domestic needs on a limited budget, lack of financial literacy, sexual assault, alcohol or drug abuse, poor diet and exercise habits, relationships, both friendship and physical, with opposite sex and peer pressure to frame a good impression upon everyone, loss of harmony, preparing for life after graduation.

In order to meet the expectations at all levels, trying to balance classes with work and social life, and to prove one’s worth, the students experience total deficiency of orientation, expression, motivation, hopelessness, despair and anguish, all these factors keep the students under stress, frustration, anxiety and gradually this sow the seeds of depression, the condition about which the student(s) may not be aware. The situation if ignored becomes devastating.

Depression is a severe medical condition that engrosses the body, mood and thoughts. It can affect person’s outlook, routine activities, behaviour and conduct. It can change the overall personality. Individual(s) with such illness cannot simply “put themselves together” and get better.

Measures taken by college authorities to combat depression in students-

The college authorities are becoming aware of the level and amount of stress the students are going through. Some of the Institution takes utmost care of the students so that they do not become the victim of depression and related disorders. They do counseling of the students so as to make them aware about various kinds of drug abuse and alcohol abuse (NY Times, 1997).

Various organizations are coming up so as to help students get study loan to complete their education. Many student welfare organizations are established to support the students in their academics, in finances and also give concern to their personal problems that induce stress and depression in the students (Section 4: Supporting Students' Welfare). They take care of any disability if the student has and also aid financial security to the students. They pay chief and supreme level of attention to the “worrying students”.

Student forum are established, where students can discuss explicitly about their problem(s) and get the best solution (http://www.americancollege.edu/Student_Forum.aspx).

Some of the Universities depute their staff members to discuss with the students in a friendly and congenial manner so that they can outburst their stress or any kind of anxiety creeping in their minds (Section 4: Supporting Student’s Welfare).

Authorities have started various online help services for those students who feel uncomfortable to discuss out their issues or they are scared of the anticipatory consequences, or they are shy enough to speak (www.counsel.soton.ac.uk/publications/referrals.php).

Various Universities have Chaplains. They are available at Chaplaincy Centre(s) and students can talk confidentially and discuss their worries and grievances.

Numerous Careers Advisory Service(s) (Section 4: Supporting Student’s Welfare), run events throughout the year that encompass Career Focus weeks for Second Years and Finalists. They also organize Work Experience Fair, Finance and I.T Fair, Skill Workshops. These not only support the students but also provide means and guidelines to achieve success.

The college and Universities also have diverse High field health facilities, Day Nurseries, gymnasiums, for better health of the student.

Some of the Colleges also run various personality development programs, they help the students in self- improvement and also build confidence of “CAN DO” attitude.

Nightline services are also provided by some Universities, which comprise confidential telephone listening service run by students for students (Section 4: Supporting Student’s Welfare).

Many higher authorities of educational institutions, universities and colleges are aware of the consequences of stress that their students are going through so they have started appointing psychologists. They talk with college students about the relationships they have with both their parents and peers. Mattering to others is important to college students, and negative affect may be exacerbated if peer relationships are lacking.

To reduce perceived stress and depression, college students may benefit from understanding the developmental process that occurs in college. Psychologists can assist college student clients in developing close and healthy interpersonal relationships with peers by teaching important skills, such as open communication and assertiveness. It is also important to take the sex of the client into consideration given that sex differences were found consistently in this study. Though women may feel that they matter to others more than men do, they also experience more college stress and depression. As women and men report comparable levels of self-esteem, psychologists may want to implement interventions focusing on other factors such as the interpersonal relationships of women, particularly the family and friends to whom they believe they matter.

What measures Colleges and Universities must take to reduce depression and help students coping with it proactively:

“Depression is a huge problem in the college student population” says John Greden M.D executive director of U-M Depression Centre. College students are framing negative headlines in the news, initially it was related to alcohol, drug, physical abuse but in the present scenario the concern is for mental illness in the college campuses. In American Psychology Today Hara Marrano says “Mental illness is absolutely going off the charts on college campuses”. Psychiatrist Shamsah Sonawalla of Massachusetts General Hospital  says “there is no just increase in the prevalence “ of psychological problems in college students but “an identification of problems earlier . that we recognize it more is a good thing. But we have opened up Pandora’s box” that Many students do not know notice the changes in them, they may feel anxiety, stress blues, but cannot root out the biological cause, they may feel that they are falling behind then their peers  (Ann Arbor, MI)

The Symptoms of depression are based on- genetics, environment, life events, family and social environment and medical conditions together stimulate the brain to release mood altering neurotransmitters that may lead to anxiety, stress and depression.

The authorities must take the charge of not only counselling the students and parents (if required) but also amend the curriculum if required so as to put let pressure on students. Things like easy ways to study must be implemented. Co=operation is desired in case if the faculty members come across any situation if they notice grouchy and irritable behaviour of the collegiate, if the student becomes slow in thinking and speaking than normal, trouble in concentrating, remembering and making decisions, changes in habits especially eating and sleeping, lose interest in things , they use to enjoy, and if the student(s) have feeling of guilt, hopelessness, and wonder if the life is worth living. Above all if the student is thinking a lot about death or suicide, frequent complains about headache and stomach-ache.

Although the findings of this study are compelling, certain limitations need to be recognized. All of the measures were self report, and there were no behavioral indicators of the constructs being examined. There may have been a ceiling effect on mattering with the average score 3.27 out of a possible 4. In addition, the self-reported yearly family income was relatively high.

In addition, the study was conducted at only one university in one area of the United States. Again, generalizing the findings to students across the United States should be made cautiously. This study found that perceived mattering, a relatively new construct, self-esteem, and sex of participant are highly related to both depression and perceived stress, and that when combined with stress, they accounted for a considerable portion of the variance in depression. These findings have practical implications regarding issues to be addressed in therapy for those psychologists who work on college campuses. In addition, this study adds to the empirical knowledge about depression, as well as perceived stress, and calls for more research on these variables and their interconnectedness.

What Authorities can really do:
1.Help students get organized with their work
2.Students must also be allowed to take breaks, it is essential to have mental relaxation
3. Students must be encouraged for practicing and reharsing on their weakness rather than demotivating them.
4. the attitude to "Do it Now" must be given some relaxation to avoid stress and distress among the students.
5. students must be realized about their limitations and at the same time authorities mut encourage about their talents (hidden and expressed). This will provide confidence and mental relaxation.
6. Attitude of the student must be judged by the faculty members.
7. Students must be encouraged to pland their work schedule to have a systematic and less stressful work.
8. A positive and encouraging atmosphere reduces stress. it is the responsibility of college authorities to organise programs for the students which are related to their cultural and education.
9. Authorities must avoid comparisons between students as this becomes the sole reason for stress in students.
10. Pressures for the examination and performace can be reduced by introducing an educationa system that aids in learning through activities and projects, they should have practical orientation. This helps in grasping the subject fast.
11. Teaching through teaching aids always make the learning easy.

These are the efforts if taken can reduce the stress in college students and help the students to become a good and responsible citizens. The kind of education imparted by the Institutions id depicted in the personality of the students. Hence these students will shape the society in much reformed manner and can become a big help in reducing stress in fellows.

How to Choose MBA Institute?

MBA is now one of the favorite career choices for students. Demand for good MBA institutes therefore has increased exponentially over the years. To cater to the growing demand from students and industries alike, many business schools have flourished in India during this period. There are now both government aided and private B schools in India. But with so many choices available the situation can be really confusing for the students seeking admission in MBA schools. In this write-up we have tried to compile the tips given by eminent academicians of the country on how to choose MBA schools in India.

Choosing the right MBA institute in India would demand great amount of research. The decision regarding B schools in India would depend upon various factors like- courses offered, infrastructure, location, faculty, alumni, placement record, foreign accreditation, so on and so forth. While choosing the right MBA institute, one needs to look into all the aspects before making the final choice.

Location: The location of the B school would play an important role in the decision making process of the student. If MBA Delhi suits a student better, then he wouldn't settle for MBA Mumbai or MBA Hyderabad. Similarly, one also needs to take into account the interaction and communication facilities of the institute.

Though all the B schools are strategically situated, some may offer better interaction with corporate and industries than others. Students tend to prefer such institutions which offer better exposure with industries.

Specialization: The student is required to do research on the specializations offered by different MBA schools. This is relatively an easier task since most of the business schools have established track records in the courses offered.

Along with the conventional MBA courses, such as-MBA finance, MBA marketing or MBA HR; there are now courses like- rural management, international business, retailer and distributor chain management are also available at various business schools. Hence, the student has to be careful in choosing the right stream of MBA that would help him with his career objective.

Infrastructure: Another important factor that one needs to take into consideration is the infrastructure of the institute. One may check out the classroom facilities, availability of books in the library, internet connectivity of the institute as parts of its infrastructure.

Faculty: The faculty members of the institute would determine the standard of the B school and therefore the status of the students passing out of these institutes. The bench of faculty comprising of top academicians of the country would likely to attract top talents.

Alumni network: Alumni network and industrial linkage of the business school. MBA colleges attracting alumni from diverse field and industrial connections are likely to attract more students than others. The Alumni network is a clear determinant of the institute's reputation.

Foreign accreditation: Similarly, international association of the institute remains another determinant of choosing B schools in India. Foreign accreditation play an important role for MBA colleges in India to feature into the list of best B schools India.

Placement record: Although the companies would offer placements in different business schools but the number of placements offered would determine the position of the B school amongst students.

The student must look into all the above factors before deciding upon the right business institute. Business schools rankings are of great help to students to help them decide on the right business school. These rankings would take into account all the aspects and prepare a 360° report on the B schools in India.

Format of College Admission Essay

College admission essay format

College admission essay format is a design to make your essay appear impressive and professional. There are some guidelines that have been set by academic authorities to make your essay have an ideal presentation. These guidelines must be followed because they will be evaluated as part of the paper.

Formatting an admission paper begins with a good header. Your admission paper will require a title page. The titled page should contain on separated lines, centered and double spaced, the title of the paper and the writer’s name. The instructor’s name and the course name are left out since this is not a work for class presentation. Most admission papers are not necessary to be started using outlines. But if you use an outline to commence the paper, the outline should be typed on the centre of the page one inch from the top and double-space the outline to fit the first line of the text. Take note that the outline should appear in short sentence form rather than in the shorter topic form. It is a skeleton of the admission paper.

Number all pages of your paper. If you use the MLA format, number all pages after the title page in the upper right hand corner, half an inch from the top. The outline pages should be number with small Roman numerals. Number the text pages with Arabic in the upper right hand corner. Begin the text one inch from the top and leave one inch margin at the bottom and sides of the paper.

You will normally be given word or page limits. Respect these limits even if you think you have something very important to write about. If you go beyond these limits, the rest of the work will be discarded.

If you are not given a particular font style, use the clear formatting. This will require a twelve point font size using times new roman.

The paper must have an introduction, a body and a conclusion. There will be so many admission essays to be viewed by instructors and if your paper fails to meet these standards, they will be nervous and may end up giving poor grades or even shoving your paper aside. Nothing should be taken with delight because there is no room for making corrections. The only available correction is that you will not be admitted into that particular college.

The requirement of typing out your paper should not be repeated. Almost all admission essays are typed out. This will allow for an easy reading of your essay. Most teachers are so obsessed about the handwritings of students. Anything boring or not visible will receive little or no attention. Take note that at times, you may even find it difficult to read what you have written.

College admission essay format has a lot of ins and outs to cater for. In researching and writing this paper, you will not only draw inspirations from library research techniques, but also ask from your teachers or get help from parents. There are different styles such as the MLA, APA, and CBE etc. It is of the student’s interest to have an insight into all these styles of writing and know what path his or her curriculum takes.

Easy Ways for Students to Save

College students have a reputation for being “poor,” which is not surprising considering the high costs of tuition coupled with the fact that a busy college schedule complicates finding time for a job. But, by making several wise choices and a few tweaks to your routine, you can actually save money during college and keep financial struggle at bay. Following these few tips will not only benefit your finances during college, but it will also set you up for a sound financial future. Mix and match to find the methods that fit into your lifestyle.
1. Ask for a student discount.
Many places near local colleges offer student discounts of up to 20 percent, even if they don’t advertise the discount. Students at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, for example, receive a 20 percent discount from Pizza Hut if they mention they’re from Capital.
2. Check out scholarship websites.
Some online scholarship organizations may seem like scams, but websites like Fasweb.com can connect students with hundreds of scholarship opportunities. By signing up for free and filling out a short profile survey, students will be linked to scholarships that match their needs and qualifications, and they can earn up to $2,000 simply for submitting a photo. Scholarship websites such as Fastweb.com simplify the process of finding extra money for college, and can help you to save thousands of dollars on your education.
3. Save spare change.
A few pennies here and there may not seem like much, but saving all of your spare change over the course of the year can add up. By setting aside just 50 cents of change a day, you’ll save over $180 a year.
4. Look for an on-campus job.
Finding an off-campus job at a store or restaurant may be hard considering your busy schedule, but on-campus jobs offer the flexibility that college students need. Even if you only have two spare hours a day between classes, most of the people in charge of hiring students for on-campus jobs will work around your class schedule. Working two hours a day during the week in the campus mailroom or cafeteria will result in earning about $75 a week, which is plenty of money to set aside for savings.
5. Buy your own food instead of relying on campus food.
Buying a meal plan in the cafeteria is a costly option. Many campus meal plans cost thousands of dollars a year, whether you actually use all of the money on your meal plan or not. You’ll save hundreds of dollars a semester by buying your own groceries and cooking your own meals.
6. Keep track of your spending for a month.
Writing down everything you buy will show you where your money really goes. By seeing what you’re actually spending, you may be able to find areas where you can cut back and save money. If you’re spending $5 a day on Starbucks Coffee, for instance, you can stop going to Starbucks and make your own coffee in your dorm, and enjoy a savings of $35 a week.
7. Opt for walking instead of driving.
Most college campuses are in the center of town near restaurants and other attractions. Instead of driving to Can out-of-town restaurant or hang out, walk to a nearby place and save money on gas.
8. If you must go out to eat, go for lunch instead of dinner.
Going out to eat can be pricey, but it’s understandable that college students enjoy going out once in a while. So, if you’re going out, plan to go out for lunch instead of dinner. Lunch prices are typically about half the price of a meal during dinner.
9. Be a smart shopper.
Instead of paying full-price for something at the mall or a specialty store, hunt for bargains at places like Value City or TJ Maxx. You can save hundreds of dollars on dorm furniture by getting it on sale and one of these places, and most of the things sold at discount places are pieces that have been in the mall or stores within the past few months. You can get the same item for about fifty percent less and save a significant amount of money.

10. Sell some of your gently-used electronics on EBay.
Don’t use your old IPod anymore? Sell it on EBay. You can get up to $100 for a used IPod Nano if it’s in good condition.

11. Buy gently-used electronics on EBay.
Instead of shelling out nearly $1,000 for a brand new lap top straight from Dell or Apple, buy the same lap top gently-used on EBay and save a few hundred dollars.

12. Sign up for free checking and savings.
You should never have to pay for having a bank account. If your current bank charges you a monthly fee for your checking or savings account, switch now. You’ll save $120 a year if you’re currently being charged a monthly fee of $10.

13. Be sure you’ll actually need your textbooks before you buy them.
Before you pay hundreds of dollars for all your textbooks, ask your professors if you’ll actually use them. Sometimes the books listed for certain courses are simply “recommended”, meaning you’ll likely never even need them.

14. Always buy used textbooks.
You’ll only have your textbooks for a quarter or a semester, so there is never any need to buy them brand new. You’ll likely save over $100 a quarter/semester if you buy your textbooks used, and most campus bookstores have a section featuring their supply of used books.

15. Sell your old textbooks.
As previously mentioned, you’ll only need your textbooks for the quarter or semester, so sell them back to the bookstore to get some of your money back, or sell them to a friend who may need them.

16. Stray away from other banks’ ATM machines.
If you use the ATM machine at a bank other than your own, not only will you likely be charged by that bank, but you’ll also probably have to pay a free to your own bank. Cutting out a weekly trip to another bank’s ATM can save you around $260 over the course of a year.

17. Take advantage of campus transportation.
Many campuses offer free bus rides to students who present their campus ID. Instead of driving off campus, opt to ride the bus and save money on gas.

18. Don’t be afraid to take out loans.
If you’re hesitant to borrow money for college but still have trouble paying out-of-pocket, reconsider taking out a student loan. If a parent will cosign for you, you can qualify for a lower interest rate, plus you won’t have the added stress of having to worry about coming up with the money to pay for tuition each semester. College loans may seem intimidating when you first take them out, but once you graduate and begin working you’ll earn back all of the loan money and then some. Student loans are comparable to a small car payment each month, and it’s nice to not have to worry about potentially being kicked out of school because you can’t afford to pay tuition at the beginning of each semester.

19. Be careful with credit cards.
One of the easiest ways to live above your means is to charge everything you buy. It’s a wise idea to have one credit card to begin building credit history so you can rent an apartment or qualify for a car loan in the future, but credit cards should be used with caution. Make sure that you can pay the bill at the end of the month, and if you’re buying a small item, such as a drink in the cafeteria, use cash. A few low-priced items over the course of the month can add up. You’d be better off to put one large purchase on the card per month, and be sure to set aside the money to pay for it when the bill comes.

20. Have a plan.
You’d be wise to have a set budget so you know what you can spend. Make room in your budget for the things you need, but also be sure to allow some room for entertainment. If you deprive yourself of spending, you’ll only end up splurging later, so you should allow yourself to have some fun with your money.

How to Build Traffic on Your Website?

Post Articles

It is important that you publish and post more and more articles on the net or article websites. This gives you an advantage as it gets incoming links to your website. Posting unique articles catering to the interest of a large number of readers is also an effective way of driving organic traffic to your website. Well written articles bring more traffic to your website. More traffic means more profit for you. It is observed that as the PR of your website increases, the AdSense payouts also increase.
You can hope to get many more internal links to your website through this medium. Search engines take into account the number of quality back links while assigning rank to your website. If visitors reading your articles are interested, they will check out your website and you will have increased number of links. In comparison to the links that point to other websites from your website, the links that point to your website give more points to your rankings.

Linking Your website

There are two types of links - Internal Links and External Links. Internal Links refer to the internal linking of web pages whereas External Links define the websites that are linking to your website.
Getting links from other websites is the most powerful tool to drive traffic to your website. The results are instantaneous and highly effective. Getting links from quality websites with higher PR and proper anchor text results in more organic traffic from search engines. Half the battle is won if you are able to provide the links in abundance.
There are many tools available for automatically building links to your website. There are some link exchange directories on the net which are a good support in link building campaigns. However, the use of these support systems depend entirely on your beliefs and strategies. Proper inter-linking of your web pages is also relevant and significant in driving traffic.

Anchor Text

Anchor Text refers to the clickable text of a hyperlink. Anchor Text plays an important role with regard to the target traffic as well as the search engine rankings. An appropriate Anchor Text apprises the visitors of the content of the page it links to.
Besides, Anchor Text gives a real clue to the search engines regarding the content of the web page it links to. The right Anchor Text improves your website’s search engine ranking. That’s why it’s imperative to pick the Anchor Text astutely.
Google reckons Anchor Text to be an indicator of the page relevance. Google, using its special operator “allinanchor:keyword”, separately indexes the Anchor Text.
Given below are some tips for choosing the right Anchor Text that suits the search engine algorithms, and attracts the right traffic.

Optimize Your Website

Search engines will look at both the internal and external profile of your website while assigning a rank to a web page. Internal profile of a website (also known as On Page Optimization) includes usage of meta tags, heading tags, keywords, targeted content, and internal linking of website. External profile of your website defines the websites that are linking to your website. It also defines the pages where your link is placed. Besides, it identifies the PR of those pages along with the placement of your link. And it also includes the number of inward links you are getting..
Using the relevant keywords in anchor text gives a boost to rankings on the search engine result pages (SERPs).

Tools

Website tools makes your website user friendly. It is recommended that you make use of the tools that are visitor friendly. New scripts and innovative schemes for the visitor help you get more inward links. This in turn builds traffic to your website. You should add the tools that are attractive. For example, you can offer free e-books, or introduce new exciting sections relevant to your website. This will make your website exciting for the visitors. Google loves unique content. It richly rewards the websites that provide more content and better facilities to the visitors.
Google likes genuine of traffic coming to your website from Ad Sense network. Genuine traffic yields higher payouts. Website tools makes your website a genuine one. The credibility of your website increases the probability of your website getting high paying ads via Google.

Target Niche Keywords

It is important for you to identify the niche markets. This will enable you to fetch the traffic that has not been targeted much, and at the same time gels well with your industry. If your competitor is leading with X traffic on one keyword, you can compete with him by targeting ten niche keywords. This will give you the same amount of traffic.
Keyword country provides you with hordes of niche keywords. These niche keywords bring more target traffic to your web pages. This results in a better ROI (if you are selling products or affiliates) or an increased Adsense CTR (Click Thru Ratio) of your ads.

Indonesia Foreign Policy

Indonesia’s foreign policy, like that of any other country, is shaped by various factors such as the nation’s history, its geographic conditions, its demography and its security and national interest. These factors prompted Indonesia to adopt a foreign policy that is independent and active, as espoused in 1948 by Mohammad Hatta, then Indonesia’s Vice President.
Indonesia’s Independent and Active Foreign Policy is not about being “neutral“ or taking “equidistant” positions on international issues, nor is it a policy of “neglecting” or “ignoring” developments in world affairs.
The word “independent” means that Indonesia alone will decide and determine its own position on world issues without external pressures or influence. The word “active” means that Indonesia is committed to participating in constructive efforts that help build and maintain a just and peaceful world. The philosophy behind this principle is the mandate enunciated in Indonesia’s 1945 Constitution. Moreover, having been subjugated by a colonial power for over 300 years, Indonesia inevitably adopted a foreign policy that is anti-colonialist.
In the conduct of its foreign policy, Indonesia also adheres to the following guidelines:
  • The Pancasila, the state ideology
  • The Wawasan Nusantara, (archipelagic sense)
  • National Resilience
  • The Broad Outline of State Policy
The adoption of these guidelines in Indonesian foreign policy was stipulated by provision of law, particularly Act No. 37/1999 on Foreign Relations and Act No. 24/2000 on Treaties.
Under the State’s Guideline for 1999-2004, Indonesia aims to achieve a strong foreign policy and diplomacy; develop foreign economic cooperation; implement broad extradition agreements; and engage in bilateral, regional and global/multilateral cooperation.
To reach these goals, the Department of Foreign Affairs laid down the following objectives: Restore Indonesia’s international image; help boost the economy and public welfare; help strengthen national unity, stability and integrity, and preserve the nation’s sovereignty; develop bilateral relations, particularly with countries that can support Indonesia’s trade and investment and economic recovery; as well as promote international cooperation that helps build and maintain world peace.
To ensure that these goals are within reach, the Department of Foreign Affairs puts emphasis on diplomatic cooperation with countries that are within a series of concentric circles.
The first of such concentric circles, which Indonesia considers a major pillar of its foreign policy, is the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Just beyond that first circle, Indonesia likewise puts importance to promoting relations with its eastern and southern neighbors, prompting Indonesia to be engaged with the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), the Southwest Pacific Dialogue, and with the recently established Tripartite Consultation between Indonesia, Australia and Timor Leste.
Also within the second concentric circle is the ASEAN + 3 (the three being Japan, China and South Korea). Beyond that, Indonesia puts a premium on its relations with the United States and the European Union, both of which are major economic partners of Indonesia.
In compliance with the 1945 Constitution, Indonesia also gives importance to working with like-minded developing countries. That is why Indonesia is deeply involved with the Non-aligned Movement (NAM), the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the Group of 77 (G –77) and the Group of 15 (G-15). It is in this context that Indonesia remains supportive of the struggle of the people of Palestine toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian State within their own homeland.
Indonesia’s diplomacy also aims to solidify the collective effort of developing countries to bridge the gap between the developed and the developing countries. The forums that address this problem are the NAM, OIC, G-15, G-77 and D-8, in all of which Indonesia plays an active role.
At the global level, Indonesia hopes to strengthen multilateralism through the United Nations. From a political and security perspective, the end of the Cold War 13 years ago also revealed strong unipolar tendencies, characterized by the emergence of one single military power with global reach. The hope for a new world order based on multilateral processes has become slimmer as a result of this conspicuous unilateralism.
Indonesia has consistently emphasized the central role of the UN in resolving issues on international peace and security. In line with the UN Charter, the issue of peace and security is a collective responsibility of all member states through the mechanism entrusted to and a mandate vested in the Security Council. Accordingly, Indonesia rejects all unilateral decisions taken outside the framework of the UN.
